The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) today, 25th May 2026, launched the District Conflict Management Committees for Sesheke, Mwandi, and Mulobezi Districts ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
The launch was officiated by Sesheke District Electoral Officer, Mr. Collins Simoonga, who stated that in accordance with Section 113 of the Electoral Process Act, the Commission is mandated to establish Conflict Management Committees at both National and District levels for the purpose of preventing, managing, and resolving electoral disputes in an effective and timely manner, compared to lengthy court processes.
Mr. Simoonga highlighted that Conflict Management Committees play a critical role in promoting credible, peaceful, and transparent electoral processes.
The District Electoral Officer further stated that the training aims to orient committee members on their roles and functions within the electoral process.
He added that the training will equip committee members with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively handle electoral conflicts that may arise during the electoral process.
“As ECZ, we would prefer that all electoral grievances are addressed and resolved through this mechanism at the district level,” he said.
