The Sesheke Town Council has today commissioned two one by three (1×3) classroom blocks at Lilonga and Katete Primary Schools in Sesheke District Western Province. The projects were funded under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and are aimed at transforming previously harsh and not conducive learning environments into modern and comfortable classroom spaces.
The two community projects mark a significant milestone for the education sector in Sesheke District. They reflect the transformative impact of the CDF in bringing essential services closer to the people and ensuring that no one is left behind.
Area Member of Parliament, Hon. Romeo Kangombe officially commissioned the projects. He noted that the two schools had for a long time faced serious infrastructure challenges, particularly inadequate classroom space. He emphasized that the CDF has played a critical role in addressing these challenges.
Hon. Kangombe further stated that the government remains committed to investing in education to ensure that all children, regardless of their background have equal opportunities to become responsible and productive members of society. He added that Lilonga Primary School, in particular, had experienced a severe shortage of classrooms, and the new block will greatly ease congestion.
District Commissioner Alex Namenda expressed gratitude to the government for what he described as the unprecedented impact of the CDF in the district.
He noted that the Constituency Development Fund has become a game changer significantly transforming communities across Sesheke.
Mr. Namenda also confirmed that the newly constructed classroom blocks at both schools have been fully furnished with desks to ensure that every child can sit comfortably while attending lessons.
Sesheke Council Chairperson Kapelwa Simushi highlighted that the new classroom blocks have been electrified using solar power, enabling learning activities to continue even during evening hours when necessary.
Council Secretary Collins Simoonga urged the school management teams to work diligently and ensure the facilities are properly maintained and effectively utilized for the benefit of learners.
